FMEA Analysis has many built-in templates of DFMEA, PFEMA, Control Plan, DRBFM, HAZOP,… If you need some minor changes, you can use Template Settings to customize these templates.
But even if you don’t want to use them at all, you can use your existing forms with FMEA Analysis to speed up your FMEA process. This article shows you how to do it.
1 Form’s hierarchical structure
The FMEA, Control Plan,… have hierarchical structure (relational structure) forms. Before using them with FMEA Analysis, you need to determine the hierarchical structure as FMEA will use.
Ok, now open your existing form, then open the Template Settings pane and follow these steps:
2 Set Root Column
To set the root column of a table, please follow these steps:
- In the Template Settings task pane, Column Structure section, click Set Root Column.
- A small dialog appears, select the header of the column and click OK.
- Columns Structure displays the root column in the tree view.
3 Add Child Column
To add a child-columns to an existing master column, please follow the steps below:
- In the Template Settings task pane, Column Structure section, select a master column (marked with a green icon) and click Add Child button.
- A small dialog appears, select the header of the child column you want to add and click OK.
- Columns Structure displays a new child column.
4 Add Sub Column
To add a sub-columns to an existing master column, please follow the steps below:
- In the Template Settings task pane, Column Structure section, select the master column (marked with a green icon) and click Add Sub Column button.
- A small dialog appears, select the header of the sub-column you want to add and click OK.
- Columns Structure displays a new sub-column.
5 Exchange Column
You may want to exchange an existing column in the Column Structure with another which is not in Column Structure. Here is how to do it:
- In the Template Settings task pane, Column Structure section, select the column and click Change Column button.
- A small dialog appears, select the header of the new column and click OK.
- Columns Structure will update with the new column.
6 Remove Column
You may want to remove a column out of the Column Structure. Please note that this will not delete the column’s content. Here is how to do it:
- In the Template Settings task pane, Column Structure section, select the column and click Remove Column button.
- A small dialog appears to warn you about the consequence. Click OK if you really want to do it.
- Columns Structure will update with the new column.
Note: when you remove a column, its child columns and sub columns are also removed.
