How to add or change the template’s header

The header of an FMEA template includes general information about the object (product or process) being analyzed and the document revision. This information can be edited as a normal excel worksheet.

  2. Select Insert Row.

How to modify a column’s header

If you want to modify the content of a column’s header, just modify it as any other cell in Excel. After you change a column’s header, Column Structure in Template Settings task pane will update the new header of the column.

How to add a new column

FMEA form is a hierarchical structure form. Before adding a new column to an existing template, you should define its relationship with existing columns. So it must be a child-column or sub-column of an existing column.

If it is a child-column of an existing column, follow these steps:

  1. In the Template Settings task pane, Column Structure section, select the existing column and click Add Child button.
  2. A small dialog appears, select the header of the new column you want to add and click OK.
  3. Columns Structure displays a new child column.

If it is a sub-column of an existing column, follow these steps:

  1. In the Template Settings task pane, Column Structure section, select the existing column and click Add Sub Column button.
  2. A small dialog appears, select the header of the new column you want to add and click OK.
  3. Columns Structure displays a new sub-column.

How to remove an existing column

Deleting a column of a template (form) is a little bit different than deleting a normal column of a worksheet because you need to remove its relationships with other columns first. Here is how to do it:

  1. Open the Template Settings task pane.
  2. In the Column Structure view, select the column you want to remove and click on Remove Column button
  3. In the form’s worksheet, right-click on the column you want to delete and select Delete Column
